Rice Production in China

China is the world's largest producer of rice, and the crop makes up a little less than half of the country's total grain output. China accounts for 26% of all world rice production. In a given year total rice output came from four different crops. The early rice crop grows primarily in provinces along the Yangtze River and in provinces in the south; it is planted in February to April and harvested in June and July and contributes about 34 percent to total rice output.

Rice Fields

After centuries of rice production Chinese farmers developed the best way possible to get the best output out of their lands. They created the rice fields on the side of mountains and build their houses on the worst lands surrounding their fields.

Melamime in China

Melamime Bottles

Melamime

-Melamine is an organic compound that is often combined with formaldehyde to produce melamine resin, a synthetic polymer that is fire resistant and heat tolerant. The resin is a versatile material that has a highly stable structure. Its uses include whiteboards, floor tiles, kitchenware, fire retardant fabrics and commercial filters. Melamine can be easily molded while warm but will set into a fixed form, which makes it suitable for certain industrial applications. This compound is considered safe for its normal uses, but food products that are contaminated with it can be unsafe for consumption.

Recently China has come under fire because some of their companies have added melamime to their milk after watering down it so that they might trick the protein contain in it.

Interesting place in China

Potala Palace
Seat of the Dalai Lama until the 1959 Tibetan Uprising.
The palace is named after Mount Potalaka, the mythical abode of the bodhisattvaAvalokiteśvara.[1] The 5th Dalai Lama started its construction in 1645[2] after one of his spiritual advisers, Konchog Chophel (died 1646), pointed out that the site was ideal as a seat of government, situated as it is betweenDrepung and Sera monasteries and the old city of Lhasa.[3] It may overlay the remains of an earlier fortress called the White or Red Palace,[4] on the site built by Songtsän Gampoin 637.[5]

Provinces of Mainland China

Notice how China does include Taiwan as part of their territory because they still do not accept their sovereignty after the rise of communism and the fall of democratic mainland China. Hong Kong and Macau are considered special provinces with high autonomy due to the fact that they were returned to China in 1999 and 1997 respectively by England and Portugal with the conditions that they have high autonomy.
